Mayo Shattuck: a Focus on the Environment
Under the leadership of Constellation Energy Group’s (CEG) President and CEO Mayo Shattuck, the energy giant has adhered to responsible environmental practices and launched creative green programs that have been recognized by several groups. Mayo Shattuck, who was hired by CEG out of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown in 2001, has brought the company around through effective business strategies as well as a leadership that balances growth with environmental responsibility. In this manner, CEG has become a sincere and trusted partner of the communities it works with, deserving to be named a Top Corporate Citizen by Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) Magazine.
With Mayo Shattuck’s leadership, CEG has taken steps in the planning, design and establishment of its facilities to ensure that it contributes to cleaner air, conserves fuel and strictly complies with standards as it operates its nuclear power plant. In fact, it has spent over $190 million worth of upgrades of its emission-reducing equipment and more than $250 million to produce cleaner air. As a producer and distributor of natural gas, CEG partners with the US Department of Energy in making bioenergy a cost-efficient and competitive alternative fuel. It was also recognized by the Edison Electric Institute in 2001 for its safe and compliant operation of its Calvert Cliffs nuclear facility.
